"I love to teach Science because it gives the students the chance to learn about the world around them from a Physical, Chemical and Biological view whilst applying two key skills, problem solving and critical thinking. The awe and wonder it can bring, coupled with the range of theory and practical skills within each lesson mean that no two lessons are the same! Being able to catch a child’s imagination within lessons makes teaching science amazing!"
Simon Harvey, Science Teacher Weydon School
Why train to be a Chemistry teacher?
From the air we breathe to the food we eat, chemistry is all around us. By training to teach chemistry, you have an opportunity to pass your passion on to the next generation and help them to understand our world.
As a chemistry teacher, you ignite curiosity and foster a deep appreciation amongst your students for the wonders of the natural world. You become a catalyst for young minds, guiding them through the marvels of chemical reactions, the intricacies of molecular structures, and the principles that govern our universe. Your influence extends beyond the classroom, shaping future scientists, informed citizens, and problem-solvers who will tackle the challenges of tomorrow. In this role, you not only impart knowledge but also instil a sense of wonder and possibility, encouraging students to explore, question, and discover.
Each day spent in the classroom will make a lasting impact, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need for success in life.
How will i2i train you to become a Chemistry teacher?
Ignite. Discover. Inspire
Our engaging Chemistry programme will prepare you to teach a range of topics within Chemistry, including particles, reactivity, atomic structure, polymers and chemical equations. You will be mentored and taught by highly enthusiastic and experienced teachers, encouraging and supporting you to apply your knowledge and skills to create inspiring and engaging lessons.
In addition to weekly Professional Study Sessions covering different aspects of educational theory and practice, Chemistry trainees will have seven Science Studies days with our experienced Science Subject Tutor. You will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of chemistry concepts, understand how to design lesson plans that align with educational standards and the science curriculum, and gain knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, proper handling of chemicals, and conducting experiments safely.
Your training will equip you to inspire and educate future generations of scientists.
Entry Requirements
Alongside your passion for Chemistry and Science, the following qualifications are required:
