Andy Clarkson
Geography Subect Lead Mentor
Andy has been a geography teacher since 2017. Andy holds a first class honours degree in geography from Loughborough University and is a qualified public finance accountant (CPFA). After gaining his PGCE from the University of Sussex, Andy went on to complete a Masters in Education (MAEd) where he was inspired to craft powerful feedback that motivated students. He has been fortunate to teach in several schools since, most recently leading the geography department at an all-through school (King's Academy Binfield) before joining Weydon School in 2024.
Andy has experience of teaching Geography and Business Studies at both GCSE and A Level. He has helped develop an integrated humanities curriculum from inception, has run trips both nationally and internationally, led on fieldwork and has mentored both ITTs and ECTs. Through his role as a Teaching and Learning Lead Andy worked on a two year implementation project with Tom Sherrington's Walkthru programme and he is currently leading on PEdTech at Weydon School. Andy is particularly passionate about making a difference for his students and keeping up to date with new approaches backed by evidence informed research. His career highlights include supporting new teachers into the profession and being part of the journey that new Geography teachers will take into their own classrooms.
