Jemmy Krolak

History Subject Lead Mentor

Jemmy initially wanted to be a lawyer but gained interest in History teacher after speaking with her 6th form English Teacher who suggested she looked into it.  Going back into a secondary teaching setting Jemmy was fascinated and greatly enjoyed the History lessons which she sat in and decided to pursue History teaching. Having been a teacher for 3 years, Jemmy became Head of History at the Howard of Effingham in 2021 where she has developed a wide area of interest in all aspects of the past but particularly on curriculum development and equipping students to develop in the understanding of historical concepts and skills.

Jemmy also currently leads a Racial diversity team and has a particular interest in diversifying History teaching to allow students to develop a global, alongside national and local understanding of the past. In 2022 Jemmy became a mentor for a SCITT trainee and found the process enjoyable and stretching. As a result, Jemmy has become passionate about subject specific pedagogy and equipping trainees to become excellent History practitioners.
