Meet the Team
Michelle Marshall
Reigate & Thamesmead Centre Director
An expert in her field, Michelle leads the training across two of our training centres as well as teaching Maths at Reigate School. Michelle has been teaching Maths for over 20 years, predominantly in Secondary education with two years teaching in the Primary sector. During this time Michelle was Head of Maths and supported the Maths lead in the primary schools. Michelle always gets actively involved in staff development and leads CPD sessions for staff. She also supports staff 1:1, whether that be ECTs (Early Career Teachers), student teachers or experienced staff.
For Michelle, her teaching '"why"' is about making the students want to come into her classroom, because they know it is a place where they will feel success and that it is celebrated, no matter how great or small. They know it is a place where they will feel respected and recognised as the individual they are. For Michelle, getting to know students as people and as learners go hand-in-hand. When you get the best and give the best, you build relationships with young people who make you laugh and make you think differently - it doesn’t feel like ‘work’. "There is no greater return than when you know you are being the best teacher you can be in order to support students’ progress, engagement in your subject, and their self-esteem."
Michelle has been involved with teacher training for many years and has always wanted to be in a position in which she could support adult learners and promote this amazing career. Michelle is passionate about providing a professional and supportive learning environment and is actively interested in the latest research. "I feel privileged to work for i2i, and deliver a curriculum that is rooted in the best teaching research. I know that we are helping to create the best teachers for all our young learners."
Outside of school, Michelle loves gardening, playing board games with her family, cycling the Downs Link and reading. One of her favourite books is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstein.
