Teacher Training: Your Career

We are not just training an outstanding teacher, we are investing in your future. Our aim is that you will be employed within the i2i Partnership of schools. We will make sure you get the best training possible in your PGCE year and access  to the best Continuing Professional Development there is.

Subject Knowledge Enhancement

Prior to your training, you may be eligible for SKE. Applying for teacher training in biology, geography, maths, physics, chemistry, computing, design and technology, or a language need not necessarily be held back due to weaknesses in subject knowledge. You may still be able to train to teach these subjects (and be eligible for the bursaries they attract) by building up or refreshing your existing knowledge with a subject knowledge enhancement programme.

Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Programme

In your NQT year, you will have access to our NQT programme, continuing to have a learning coach and regular training sessions. Weekly training builds on the experience you gained during your first year in  the classroom. Our training programme is both practical and research based and it will provide you with the challenge and support you need to continually improve.

NQT+1 Programme

In your second year, we offer the NQT+1 programme. The programme is reflective of your development to date and takes the form of regular discussion groups, focused around a reading theme you will have engaged with between sessions. The aim is to deepen your understanding of what makes great teaching and learning and gives you the opportunity to discuss ideas with colleagues in a supportive and non-threatening way.

Teacher Subject Specialism Training

For teachers wishing to offer a second subject in either Physics or Maths, we offer subject specialism training. This training will enable you to teach your second subject to GCSE.

The Outstanding Teacher Programme

The Outstanding Teacher Programme was developed as a part of the London Challenge and has been given credit by Ofsted as being a contributory factor in the improvement in teaching and learning across London. Teachers in i2i partner schools have access to this programme which will give you time to really focus on what makes outstanding teaching and learning. No gimmicks, back to basic fundamentals about planning, assessment, questioning and challenge and engagement. There  is no doubt that at the end of this programme, you will have reassessed the way you teach - again!

National Leadership Programmes

With the Surrey Teaching School Network, we are able to offer national leadership training programmes. You will have access to the National Professional Qualifications for Middle Leadership, Senior Leaders and Headship.

i2i Partnership Leadership Programmes

This programmme will give you the skills to empower others to improve, through coaching. It will provide you with opportunities to share and  learn from practice across our network of partner schools,  and receive coaching to improve your own leadership. As a skilled and talented leader, your training will enable you to offer leadership support across the partnership. You will be driving imporvement beyond your own team and school, and will be developing your own network of support.

Leadership #Teachmeets

Senior leaders from across the partnership come together each half-term to share and learn from outstanding practice in others schools. #Teachmeets follow a different key leadership theme each half-term, ensuring that opportunities for improvement are shared and learned from.
